About the Band
Jimmi and the Band of Souls are a soulful, high-energy, award-winning band from Minnesota.
They play boogie-woogie. They play slow and lonely. They play toe tappin’, deep groovin’ and hard drivin’.
Jimmi and the Band of Souls are the only band to represent Minnesota twice in the International Blues Challenge. They have played in festivals all over the Midwest and all they down to Louisiana and Mississippi. The band has opened for rock legends like Canned Heat, Vanilla Fudge and Devon Allman. Their album, The Devil You Know, was voted the best blues album in Minnesota. Tom Kochie, their lead guitarist, is a member of the Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame.
The band is committed to hosting at least one benefit a year. In 2022, they raised over $11,000 for the people of Ukraine. In 2023, they hosted a benefit for the Takoda Institute, a Native American school in Minneapolis, and in 2024, they co-hosted a benefit for Minnesota music legend, Scott Sansby. “It’s about giving back,” says Jimmi. “While we have breath, let’s use our talents to create community and build a better world for all of us.”
