Here’s a great combo platter for you: Blues, Beer, BBQ and Giving Back to the Community.
What’s the benefit? Tuition Blues is an annual fundraiser that raises money for scholarships and classroom resources, and also raises awareness of the career training and job services provided by the American Indian OIC’s vocational education program, known as the Takoda Institute.
Tuition Blues is taking place on September 29 from 4:00 to 7:30 PM at Famous Dave’s in Calhoun Square. Set to take the stage at this year’s event are Jimmi and the Band of Souls and our good friends from Bluedog, Boom Boom Steve V & the Knockouts with Good Time Willy, and Hoka-Hey. $25 gets you in the door for live music and a barbecue dinner. Plus there will be silent auction featuring items donated by community businesses and local artists.
We love supporting the Takoda Institute. The school does a more than fabulous job helping people in the Twin Cities acquire in-demand career skills and connect to gainful employment. All proceeds from Tuition Blues will go toward keeping an education at the Takoda Institute affordable and accessible for all students.
Since its founding, the AIOIC has built a workforce of almost 20,000 people by helping them improve their employment credentials which results in a more stable and satisfying future. The organization’s mission is to empower community members to pursue career opportunities by providing education, training, and employment services in a culturally rich environment.
